After spending a wonderful evening with my girlfriend it was time for me to get in the car to meet my family in the mountains, which for me are equal to pure joy.

I was lucky enough to have perfect weather while driving from one valley to the next on my journey to the hotel. Especially the last few kilometers before the hotel were truly perfect as I had the high mountains right next to me. All covered in snow and immediately making me want to put on my skis. But see for yourselves.

Because it was already the afternoon it was too late to ski that day. However, we did get treated to a really nice food menu. The mini burger must have been my absolute favourite, but we enjoyed every dish heaps.

The next day I was ready to ski, so off we went. Of course I took my drone to capture the snow-covered landscape and blue skies. Though there always were some clouds, the weather was really great for some good days of skiing. Afterwards we treated ourselves to some more food and wine.

First of March greeted us with even better weather and – of course – as soon as I reached the top of the mountain I had to send my drone into the air.

If you look closely you can spot me on top of the rocks

Naturally we were eager to explore the 270 km of slopes, so my sister and I set off to make the most of our ski passes. Next to the piste there was some perfect powder snow, allowing me to once more go for some amazing drone pictures. Because it was carnival we were nicely dressed up in a penguin and a reindeer jumpsuit, respectively.

Few things more enjoyable than making a snow angel in powder snow

For dinner we had some Schnitzel and other goodies.

This day we experienced a weather phenomenon none of us had seen before – a halo. As I found out, these form because of ice clouds/crystals at an altitude of between 5000 and 13,000 metres break the sunlight around it. Unlike rainbows, where the sunlight is refracted by raindrops, halos are refracted by ice crystals. (cf. WetterOnline)

Me in front of the halo (with mask because back then covid was still a thing)
You can also see part of the halo above the mountain

In the evening – you guessed it – more food! I must have turned full instagram ‘influencer’ at this point with all the images of food I take.

This concluded my final day of skiing and the next day I returned to Prague for some other appointments.

Pfiat eich!
