Galápagos, Ecuador
08/06/2023
Saturday marked our day of departure of Galápagos. We treated ourselves to a little more sleep than the days prior and then had breakfast on the hotel’s rooftop, which overlooked the bay. After packing our bags, we got picked up to get to the airport, but not before making a last stop.

Cave in
Our last stop was a cave, which lay along the main road of Santa Cruz, leading north towards Seymour, where the airport is. It was cool seeing, but with the many impressive caves there are all around the world this one did not stand out and was nothing too special, but see for yourselves.

What I do want to note though is that while Galápagos made sure to require a babysitter even for just the trip to the airport and the islands pride themselves on their nature conservation, having a 20-people bus for us 6 and moreover leaving the engine running for half an hour while we were in the cave hints at a far-from-thought-through concept in my humble opinion.
Take off
Some while later we made our way through security and then to the plane, which safely took us back to Quito with a layover in Guayaquil.

Notably, the flooded plains in the pictures were back on the mainland.

Take in
From the airport, we were taken to a hot spring hotel in the backcountry for our last, more relaxing stay in Ecuador. We had dinner together and even jumped into the hot and cold pools later that night before parting for Europe the next morning.

¡Hasta la próxima!
